It's disappointing it's the eta, and I've never really done car maintenance before so I wouldn't feel comfortable taking on swapping in the 325is engine, but still...

I don't know enough about E30's or M20's but I'm sure anything from the odometer gear breaking, some electrical issues, rust (but this one seems clean).

Timing belt and water pump are common maintenance items but they are easy to fix, vacuum leaks on a car that old, and maybe the drive line coupler but aside from that not much mechanically. I loved my 325ic (convertibles are a flexy bunch) but it was taken from me too soon.
